International Trends and Services

The International Trends and Services facet (ITS) provides services and delivers transformational programs to people of African ancestry globally so that they may have a better quality of life.  The ITS facet’s programs are designed and developed to service educational, health, and cultural needs of our global community and to help people emerge from poverty. A primary objective of our international work is to enrich the lives of women and their families. 

 

GHV (NY) ITS Facet Activities include:

 

Education Across the Miles (Jamaica Missions Trip)

Over the past five (5 ) years GHV (NY)  Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has joined Links members from various chapters in traveling to Jamaica, donating items and time to several “adopted” schools.

  

United Nations 

The GHV (NY) chapter has participated in a variety of United Nations activities including: 

  • Remembrance of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, an annual trip to the United Nations, 100% sponsored by the chapter for select students at the Nellie Thornton School and Ossining High School.

 

  • Various United Nations and United Nations Association-USA events including:

    • acknowledgement and work towards the sustainable goals of the United Nations 

    • Partnership and sponsorship of the Westchester County Youth Bureau’s International Day of the Girl Child program

    • Participation and attendance in International Women’s Day activities

 

Monrovia College High School, AME (Monrovia, Liberia)

The GHV (NY) chapter donated $3,000 in funds to build science and computer labs in Monrovia, Liberia and has supported through these funds the mentorship of young women focused on STEM studies.

 

Education Across the Miles (Putellos School, South Africa)

Over the years, the GHV(NY) Chapter has maintained a connection to the Putellos Primary School and has provided service to over 400 students, donated Seats of Learning to the school, created a wellness center at the school, donated backpacks, books and other items to the school, installed at the school sinks and water fountains for students.  

 

Upcoming Chapter ITS facet programs:

 

LIFE Program (Links International Foreign Affairs & Business Empowerment for Youth)

The chapter will launch in Spring 2023 a program which will introduce minority, high school youth to career possibilities in international affairs & business.
